village of Crackington-Haven is approximately 7 miles from
the town of Bude and is
in North Cornwall.
In Victorian times Crackington-Haven was a port which handled
exports and imports.The railway came nearby in 1893 which resulted of
course in it becoming a more popular tourist attraction. It is hard to
imagine how isolated some Cornish villages were in Victorian
times before the railways came.
The Cornish name for the village is Porthkrag. Middle
Crackington and Higher Crackington are nearby.
