POLPERRO

Polperro is a very famous well known Cornish fishing village. Many people in England who have never been to Cornwall  have heard of Polperro. It is pretty and near to the town of  Looe. It is not too far from Devon being approximately 25 miles from the city of Plymouth  in Devon.
The Cornish name for the village is Porthpyra which  may get its name  from  the Cornish  word for harbour. St Peter de Porthpyre chapel is  named in a 1398 written record. It has a history and one of the associated manors was mentioned in the  eleventh century Norman Doomsday Book

The tourist industry is very important to Polperro and it became  extra important in the twentieth century.

There is a festival held every year called The Polperro Festival.    Artists have been drawn to Polperro by its prettiness and old world presence. There are pubs in the village.
