Wadebridge
Wadebridge is
an ancient market town, centred on the old 17 arch stone bridge which dates
from 1485. Always a bustling town Wadebridge has had to adapt to
modern times and in recent years has come to offer an alternative shopping
venue to the supermarkets, the town having been part pedestrianised
with individual and varied shops; craft shops, specialist bakeries, niche
shopping, second hand bookshops and the like. A wide selection of country
style Inns, restaurants and cafes- often with outdoor seating spilling
over onto the pavements. The new Tourist Office, a few minutes stroll from
the centre of the town, is probably the first place to visit. Then
proceed to the old bridge and enjoy the river view. Then walk over
to Molesworth Street, the main shpping street. From this street there
are little side streets leading to small shopping arcades. For the energetic,
just a few minutes stroll from the centre of the town, is the starting
point of Cornwall's top tourist attraction The Camel Trail (miles
of cycle paths). At the entrance there is reasonably priced bike hire.
